One of my favorite gigs is working with my good friends at The Embassy of Finland here in Washington, D.C. It is one of the most beautiful embassy buildings in the Nation’s Capitol, and the staff here are the most friendly and welcoming people you could ever hope to meet. Once a year, the Finns partner with the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic embassies to host the Nordic Jazz Festival. If you like cerebral, funky, hip, or just other-worldly jazz, this is always THE place to be. For 2012 my friends from Finland hosted countryman and wildly talented pianist Iiro Rantala and the beautiful and talented Sunna Gunnlaugsdottir for an evening of piano jazz that stirred the emotions and set the feet to tapping. As always, Annali and all the staff at the embassy were the perfect hosts, and a grand time was had by all!PhotobucketPhotobucket
