How can you strum a ukulele and not help but smile? Well, it was a sea of happy, smiling faces at the Strathmore Center for the Performing Arts in North Bethesda, Maryland last night as multi-Grammy winning hosts Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer presented an evening in celebration of that little four string gift to universal happiness, the ukulele! While not as spectacular as last year’s shot at the Guinness Book of Records “play-in”, the evening was never-the-less full of treats and surprises as young and old alike delighted in the joys of that beloved little instrument so firmly associated with the great state of Hawaii. Seasoned professionals and amateurs alike sat under a gorgeous Maryland sunset and played and listened together as the summer night was filled with song!
